"Obsolete" WiFi Zones - India moves to WiMAX

Indian authorites are claiming that WiFi is obsolete, and that they can improve the service by switching to WiMAX.
A report in the local Times of India quotes Jaipur officials as seeing various advantages of moving - but the process will take two years. State principal secretary, IT and Communications, C K Mathew said: "While WiFi allows wireless internet connectivity within a specific enclosure, WiMax is aimed at providing wireless data over long distances in a variety of ways. Currently the state has WiFi zones in six places in the city, with permission granted recently to set up two more such zones.
